Here’s a silly creature I drew for myself in my sketchbook. Been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to draw anything for myself recently. This alien guy is based on my favorite bird, the Cassowary, and of course I had to give him a cool staff that does something awesome, who knows what. Did this in Sharpie and color pencils.

Here’s a mean looking lava rock beast coming up from beneath the earth. Fun practice on painting a creature made out of lava. Not the easiest task! Still feel I need a bit more practice.

Here’s a quick Japanese style koi drawing I created. I used traditional calligraphy brushes to ink it and then watercolor pencils to add the waves and the colors on the fish. This was a sample illustration for showing the art group that I teach on Monday nights. I try to have a different project each time we meet. I love being a part of it!

Did this sketch a week or two ago, but hadn’t taken the time to scan it until now. This little cartoon scuba guy thinks he hit the jackpot with this sunken treasure chest, but little does he know, a big, grumpy fish guards it. You can decide how this story ends…

This is a quick sketch I did with traditional pastels. I wanted to draw up a sample for my drawing group coming up tomorrow night. Planning on showing some techniques with pastels. Recently drew some color storyboards for an ongoing client. The premise of the commercial is that a burnt-out cubicle worker ends up being transported to a Tron-like world where she races other drivers. Fun project to storyboard the pre-production for.

“Brains are friends, not food” public service announcement style t-shirt design. Not quite sure if zombies can read, but if they can, hopefully wearing this shirt will deter them from eating you.

New clothing line a client is starting: monsters and creatures based on H. P. Lovecraft’s literature. This is the first design, the Cthulhu octopus beast.
